Question by Mike Y: How do the emulators for Android work?
I’ve thought about buying the Snesoid app for Android (for my Droid X) because I love the old SNES games, but I’m under the impression that it’s just an app that lets you play SNES games on the device, but doesn’t actually have any of the games with it. How does that work? Do you get the games from somewhere else? How do you download them onto the phone and actually play them? Does it cost more to get the games then? Sorry for the ignorance lol.

In my opinion Snesoid by yongzh is the best emulator on the market. The lite version is free so you can try it out. It does not come with any games. ROMS are basically backup copies of old games and the emulator allows you to play them on your device. You can get free ROMS of games at various sites online. I have used http://doperoms.com/ .
You can download the games with your Droid X but the files have to be unzipped so the easiest way to do it is to download them on your PC and then drop them onto your SD Card. Just create a folder on your SD Card called ROMS and drop them into it. You can really name the folder whatever you want.
When you open the app you can tell it what folder to look in and you will see a list of the roms you have. I have Street Fighter II, Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Kart, & Super Mario All Stars. They all work fine on my Incredible.
